The board or table is circular with four holes equally spaced around the outside and, above each hole, on the rim, each player is given a rubber 'puffer' that is placed in a 'rollock' and the aim of the game is to keep the little cork ball out of one’s hole by means of the puffer. Simple! Until the game starts, and amid mirth and laughter, one finds that ball has gone all the way round the board and fallen into one’s own hole! The idea of the game is to encourage the ball to fall into an opponent's hole thereby making them score one point....there is no benefit to any player...just penalties. These are recorded on the 'abacus' on each players left - and that can fox some people! |

The game starts with the ball in the middle of the board and the only rules are that the board must not be moved and that blowing with one's mouth is forbidden. The 'puffer' must be kept in the 'rollock' at all times. At the end of the prearranged time or score, the loser is the person who has suffered the greatest number of penalties and they will then pay an agreed forfeit. The winner is the person with the least number of penalties. |
